“La Suisse Plurielle” – A photo exhibition on migration

26 March, 2012 (20:51) | Finnish Culture, News | By: Snezhana Snezhko

Photo exhibition in VaasaIs Switzerland a multicultural country? The photo exhibition “La Suisse plurielle,” organized in collaboration with the Swiss embassy, will be on display in Tritonia (University of Vaasa) from March 30, 2012 through April 20, 2012. The Swiss ambassador will be present for the opening ceremony which takes place on March 30, 2012 at 14.00. Everybody is invited!

The exhibition shows works of the Swiss photographers Ursula Markus, Edouard Rieben, and Pierre-Antoine Grisoni. They broach the issue of migration in Switzerland, while still adopting a global perspective; a close look reveals that these authentic pictures narrate their own, very personal stories. Moreover, the aim of the exhibition is to focus on the human being and to raise questions to generate dialogue on migration.

5-6% of Vaasa’s inhabitants have a migration background. Participate in this photo competition and show your personal “Intercultural Vaasa!” Please send your work to foto@uwasa.fi until April 16, 2012. The award, a dinner for two at a Thai restaurant, will be presented on April 19, 2012.

Information on the frame program will be communicated at a later date.
