Annual Vaasa Choir Festival from May 16

Vaasan Choire FestivalChoir festival in Vaasa is a major international event in a choral music. The festival will last for five days, starting already on May 16th until May 20th. The festival is everybody’s favorite event where any choir can participate. During the festival around 100 concerts will be organized. The choir music might be heard in local churches, schools, restaurants, etc.

The choir collectives who are invited as the main singers in 2012 are the following: The King’s Singers (UK), Vocal Ensemble Cantatrix (Netherlands), Club For Five (Finland), Cantores Minores (Finland), Realtime A Cappella Quartet (USA/Canada) and Mount Baker Toppers (USA).

Special attention should be devoted to The King’s Singers (UK). These English gentlemen are widely famous all around the world. The concert halls where The King’s Singers perform are always packed. The tickets are sold with buying fever. Luckily, this year they are coming to Vaasa! The program that English choir will present includes the songs of young as well as acknowledged composers. The King’s Singers are masters of interpretation and very skilled variety performers. They are simply a super-group charged with British humor.

The King’s Singers are David Hurley (countertenor), Timothy Wayne-Wright (countertenor), Paul Phoenix (tenor), Christopher Bruerton (baritone), Christopher Gabbitas (baritone), and Jonathan Howard (bass).
The place of the performance: Church of Vaasa (Vaasan Kirkko). Time: 18.5.2012 at 18.00-20.00. Tickets: parterre – 35/30€, balcony 30/25€.
